Personal Training Sessions

This is how 1:1 personal training works:

Your consultation session will invite an open discussion all about you, your lifestyle, your exercise likes and your goals. It will also include a postural assessment to identify any muscular imbalances often caused by daily life and the many balls you are juggling.

The picture we build from this consultation will guide the overall design of your programme. Corrective exercises will be the initial focus, helping to stabilise joints and overall posture to create an aligned foundation from which we can build your fitness. It will be unique to you and will take a balanced approach, focussing on flexibility, cardio and strength.

Women of all ages and abilities

I work with women of all ages and abilities to help them create long lasting habits when it comes to exercise and health. I am passionate about the physical and mental benefits of incorporating movement into your daily life with a focus not on what you can lose, but what you can gain. I empower women with the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to be able to move in ways that they will enjoy and are therefore more likely to keep up. 

Programmes built around you

I offer personal training in which I design bespoke programmes based around you, your goals, your lifestyle and your experience. These take into account some of the major milestones of being a woman, whether that is training around fertility, your menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, post natally, whilst you are peri menopausal or post menopause into your senior years. Whatever journey you are on, your personal training programme will be just that- PERSONAL.

The In-Balance Bundle Is a 12 week block of sessions designed to span over a 3 month period – the perfect amount of time to really start feeling results.

For those who want a fresh approach to working out. Whether you are beginning your fitness journey, thinking of getting back into exercise after taking a break or simply need a shake up of your well-established routine this programme will help you to feel supported in building realistic and long lasting habits.

The Re-Balance Bundle is a 4 week block of sessions deigned to span over a one month period – the perfect amount of time to begin establishing a healthy relationship with exercise and to start understanding how you can make it part of your lifestyle going forwards.

Perfect for those who need a kickstart to incorporate exercise into their weekly routine. This bundle is designed to provide motivation, inspiration and support to help you make that positive change. 

PERFECT FOR:

1:2 training sessions
for you & a friend

Train with a friend with a 6 week block of sessions for you and your bestie.

Those who enjoy the social side of working out and would like the motivation from both a trainer and a friend, all in one hour. Sessions will be designed around your joint goals and will include a combination of flexibility, cardio and strength training to provide a full body workout. These sessions will be focussed around fun, support and positivity to raise endorphins and bounce off each other’s motivation.

specialist training
pre-natal

With a specialist pre and postnatal qualification, I offer 1:1 personal training sessions designed to empower women with the education, knowledge and tools they need to exercise safely throughout pregnancy and after birth. A detailed consultation meeting will ensure the design of your programme reflects your individual journey through pregnancy and into motherhood.

Your programme will be tailored to all three trimesters during pregnancy taking into account the physical, mental, structural and hormonal changes which can occur during this exciting, but often daunting time. The bespoke nature of these sessions will ensure you feel safe and supported throughout the full nine months.

post-natal

With a specialist pre and postnatal qualification, I offer 1:1 personal training sessions designed to empower women with the education, knowledge and tools they need to exercise safely throughout pregnancy and after birth. A detailed consultation meeting will ensure the design of your programme reflects your individual journey through pregnancy and into motherhood.

Gentle rehabilitation guides the design of these sessions, respecting and celebrating the amazing achievement your body has undergone in birthing a baby. You will be taught pelvic floor strengthening techniques as well as ways to rebuild and stabilise the core in order to create strong and stable foundation from which you can build your fitness.

2022 started with me feeling totally lost, lonely and not knowing who I was anymore. Seeking change, I came across Balanced Her on Instagram. A DM later and the rest is history! Alyson has been so incredibly welcoming and supportive of me and my goals. After having my second baby, I was keen but nervous about exercising again. Alyson at Balanced.her has not only enabled me to get back into regular exercise in a steady and manageable way but she has actually taught me to love exercise for the first time in my life. I now look forward to every session, circuit, walk and run that I do. My reasons for exercising are different since starting with Alyson and I now do it because I want to, not because I feel like I should. Weight loss and the physical changes to my body have just been a bonus!

I assumed that signing up to a PT would mean a high expectation of at-home exercise which I was apprehensive about as life with a newborn can be busy! However, my weekly plan includes my PT session, 1 circuit, 1 run and 2 walks which have felt totally manageable.

FAQs

Anything I haven’t answered here?

I currently offer 1:1 sessions Monday – Thursday between 8:45am and 7pm.

I offer two bundle options:
IN BALANCE - a 12 week programme
RE BALANCE -  a 4 week programme.

These are designed around you attending a one hour session each week. In addition to our in-person sessions, I also include ‘at home’ programmes for you to take away and use between sessions so that you feel supported on the days that I don’t see you as well as the days that I do. 

If you are unable to attend a session, just let me know and we will miss that particular week and extend your programme by a week. Please note that I ask you let me know more than 24 hours in advance. If notice is less than 24 that, I do charge for the session as it means I am unable to fill the space. 

Please get in touch! We can discuss what times/dates are suitable for you and then I can confirm current availability. If there isn’t a suitable option available straight away, I can add you to the waitlist and contact you when your preferred slot becomes free. 

I listen to what you have to say. A consultation session is my first step to finding out about you, your exercise experience, your goals and why you are looking for a personal trainer. I then write you a unique plan, a week at a time. I track your progress and work with you so that your training develops in the way you want it to. I check in with how you are feeling at the start of each session and can make modifications based on your energy levels on a given day. 

No. That’s what I’m here for. All abilities welcome. Even if you’ve never worked out before – today is always a good day to start. And if you exercise frequently already but are looking to shake up your routine, I can guarantee some new formats, moves and goals to help your routine feel fresh.

Yes! Private parking is available on site.

The beauty of training outside is that we move with the seasons and the elements, soaking up the many benefits of being in nature. But there is the odd day where this just isn’t safe or enjoyable and f that’s the case, we relocate to a beautiful barn just down the road. I contact you directly with the new location when applicable.
